(Sebhorrhoic keratosis)

A seborrhoeic keratosis is a harmless warty spot that appears during adult life. It is a common sign of skin ageing. Some people have hundreds of them.

It has been estimated that over 90% of adults over the age of 60 years have one or more of them.

They occur in males and females of all races, typically beginning to erupt in the 30s or 40s. They are uncommon under the age of 20 years.

Treatment

An individual seborrhoeic keratosis can easily be removed if desired. Reasons for removal may be that it is unsightly, itchy, or catches on clothing.

We use Hyfrecation to treat warts on the skin. This is a form of electro-surgery, The hyfrecator we use is a low-powered medical device which destroys tissue directly.

After Treatment

Treated areas will scab for three to five days. Avoid picking, peeling, rubbing, scrubbing or irritating your skin in any way whilst it is healing as this may cause scarring and risk infection.

Dry areas should be kept hydrated with a moisturising cream. Avoid heat, saunas, hot tubs and sweaty activity for one to two days. This includes exercise of any kind.

You may resume your regular skin care routine five days after treatment - once the area is healed. If you have ongoing irritation after five days or anything you are concerned about at any other time, please seek medical advice from the clinic or your GP.

Cost

The price of treatment will depend upon on the size and site of the lesion. An accurate cost will be given after the FREE initial consultation.
